El Ministerio de Cultura, a través del Museo Nacional de Colombia y el Instituto Colombiano de Antropología e Historia, en asocio con el Ministerio de Cultura y el Museo Nacional de Arqueología, Antropología e Historia del Perú, presentan la exposición “Hilos para la eternidad: textiles funerarios del antiguo Perú”. La muestra está integrada por 82 piezas, entre las cuales se cuentan 46 textiles y 36 objetos de tumbaga, madera, cerámica, piedra y restos animales, halladas en su mayoría en la península de Paracas, en la costa sur del Perú.

Los excepcionales textiles que hacen parte de la exposición, fueron elaborados y utilizados principalmente como ajuares funerarios hace más de 2000 años y sorprenden por la perfección en los bordados, la simetría, la variedad de los colores, la complejidad de la iconografía y el excepcional estado de conservación en que se encuentran.

Esta exposición fue curada originalmente por el Museo Nacional de Arqueología, Antropología e Historia del Perú y en los últimos cinco años, se presentó en París, São Paulo, Madrid y Lima, antes de llegar a las salas del Museo Nacional de Colombia. En esta oportunidad la curaduría fue adelantada por Margarita Reyes S., coordinadora del grupo de patrimonio Arqueológico y Antropológico del ICANH, con la asistencia de la antropóloga Catalina Cavelier.

The Ministry of Culture, through the National Museum of Colombia and the Colombian Institute of Anthropology and History ICANH, in association with the Ministry of Culture and the National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Peru, are proud to present the exhibition "Threads for eternity: funerary textiles of ancient Peru". The exhibition showcases 46 antique textiles and 36 wooden, ceramic, stone and tumbaga artifacts found in the Paracas Peninsula, on the southern coast of Peru. The unique textiles displayed were made and used primarily as funerary regalia over 2000 years ago;  the perfection in embroidery, the symmetry, the variety of colors, the complexity of the iconography and the exceptional state of conservation makes these pieces an exceptional legacy of prehispanic South American societies.

This show was originally curated by the National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Peru and in the last five years has travelled to Paris, São Paulo, Madrid and Lima, before arriving at the National Museum of Colombia. The exhibition in Colombia was curated by Margarita Reyes, coordinator of the group of Archaeological and Anthropological Heritage of ICANH, with the assistance of anthropologist Catalina Cavelier.
